演讲题目🧝🏼♂️：Embedding “Eyes” into Robot Motion Control

题目摘要🏄♂️：Human performs tasks and motion heavily relying on visual feedback from eyes. This talk presents our recent efforts on vision-based motion control of robotic systems to mimic functions of eyes in human motion. Unlike the traditional “look-then-move” approach, our approaches embed visual feedback into the low-level loop of motion control. It willbe shown that by an innovative and simple design of the visual feedback it is possible to solve several of the most difficulties problems in robotics such as uncalibrated dynamic visual servoing, GPS-free localization, Visual SLAM, trajectory tracking of noholonomic mobile robots without any position measurement, vision-based formation control of multiple robots, and deformation control of soft objects. Our on-going projects on medical robotics will also be briefed.

刘云辉博士简介：
Professor Yunhui Liu received his B. Eng. degree in Applied Dynamics from Beijing Institute of Technology, China, in 1985, his M. Eng. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Osaka University in 1989, and his Ph.D. degree in Mathematical Engineering and Information Physics from the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 1992. He worked at the Electrotechnical Laboratory, MITI, Japan from 1992 to 1995 as a Research Scientist. He has been with Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong since 1995, and is currently a Professor, Director of Networked Sensors and Robotics Lab, Director of the Joint Centre for Intelligent Sensing and Systems, and Director of Centre for Robotics and Technology Education. He is also a ChangJiang visiting Professor at National University of Defense Technology and a distinguished Visiting Professor at Beijing Institute of Technology. Professor Liu is interested in medical robotics, vision-based robotic systems, aerial robotics, multi-fingered grasping, adaptive control, networked robotics, and robot applications. His research is funded by various agencies in Hong Kong and the Mainland China. He has published over 200 papers in refereed professional journals and international conference proceedings. He has received a number of best paper awards from international journals and major international conferences in robotics and automation. He is an Editor of Advanced Robotics and was an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Robotics and Automation. He was the General Chair of 2006 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) and actively served many other international conferences as core organizers. He is also active in IEEE Robotics and Automation Society as a member/co-chair of many committees such as the Fellow Nomination Committee and Award Committee. He is a Fellow of IEEE.
